This was the EULAKS Summer School 2009 in Mexico!
ALL PRESENTATIONS OF THE EULAKS SUMMER SCHOOL you may find HERE:
For two weeks in August forty-one young researchers from fourteen countries from Europe and Latin America participated in the EULAKS Summer School on “the Role of the Social Sciences in the Construction of the Knowledge-Based Society: European and Latin American Perspectives”, which was organised as a joint event and hosted by FLACSO Mexico.
The outcome of the Summer School was a fruitful exchange of ideas and perspectives among the participants and the lecturers that came from diverse disciplinary fields, but had all a common research interest: the risks and challenges that arise in the evolving knowledge societies in Europe and
The lectures included topics on innovation and growth (Mario Cimoli), converging technologies and its consequences for 21st century social science (Steve Fuller), climate change and the ethics of science (Hebe Vessuri), innovation and underdevelopment (Judith Sutz), foresight experiences from the South (Javier Medina), to name only a few.

Special attention was also drawn to the new role and prospects of Nanotechnology, Biotechnology and ICT for national and regional development in Europe and
Ultimately, the Summer School intended to open opportunities for young researchers from Europe and Latin America to participate in existing research programmes and to provide them with know-how on how to draft and submit their own project proposals in future calls of the Seventh Framework Programme.
The Summer School also laid ground for future networking and inspired the participants to find research synergies on which they can build and design common research projects. Ideas and opportunities for joint publications in diverse journals already evolved as a first big step towards the building of new cross-regional linkages between young scientists.
