The Centre for Social Innovation (ZSI) is a politically independent research institution in the social sciences, asserting leadership in Europe to advance research on social innovation. The ZSI provides analysis and ideas for social innovations in projects ranging from basic and applied research, networking, science-based advisory services, education and training. the operations of the ZSI are organized along three departments: a) Work and Equal Opportunities, b) Technology and Knowledge, and c) Research Policy and Development. EULAKS is co-ordinated in the unit Research Policy and Development, which is involved in several national and internationally funded projects. The unit's core competence is in the area of S&T policy analysis, RTD evaluation, studies of patterns of techno-globalisation, and the management of international research networks. Furthermore, the strengthening of networks for infrstructure development in the social sciences is an important aspect of many of the ZSI's projects.
