The London School of Economics and Political Science(LSE) is a centre of research and teaching excellence and one of the world's leading university institutions working in the social science disciplines. The School has 23 interdisciplinary centres of research supported by 18 academic departments. All the centres are supported mainly by successful research grants and are the hub for one of the biggest laboratories for social sciences in a very diverse environment. The School has a long history of undertaking groundbreaking research in many of these fields, but of particular note is the encouragement to researchers to explore research questions and research interests across the disciplinary boundaries; not only within the broader fields of social science but into the natural, physical and engineering sciences.
In EULAKS, the research team will be drawn from a number of the School's leading research departments, primarily the Department of Media and Communications. The Department of Media and Communications undertakes research at the interface between social and technological change, critically addressing the key issues in the emerging digital world, and seeking a better understanding of their dynamics in ways that can be communicated to academic, industrial and governmental audiences.
