Completion of the programme “Knowledge Economy in Latin America and the Caribbean”

With the year 2009 the research programme “Knowledge Economy in Latin America and the Caribbean” (2006-2008), administered by FLACSO Mexico and sponsored by IDRC Canada, ends. The objective of this programme was to support research projects and dissemination activities that fill the gaps of existing knowledge and produce incentives that orientate public policies to promote the Knowledge Society in Latin America and the Caribbean.

From a total of 250 submitted project proposals to the call, four were selected and funded:

a) Project PEC A-26: "Knowledge networks in productive grids: creation, circulation and appropriation of knowledge and generation of competitive advantaged in Argentinean productive grids." (Argentina)

b) Project PEC B-107 “Challenges and opportunities for the industry of software and services in Brazil and Argentina.” (Brazil)

c) Project PEC D-105: “Valuable management and creation of knowledge in I&D centres.” (Mexico)

d) Project PEC D-108: "Determents of a knowledge based industry, the ICT sector in Costa Rica: processes of formation as a source of sustainability and generation of employment."(Costa Rica)
