Event Announcement: Workshop on "Co-operation in Foresight between Europe and Latin America", 22-23 October 2008 at FLACSO Mexico

The Latin-American Faculty for Social Sciences (FLACSO) will be hosting a Workshop on „Foresight Cooperation between Europe and Latin America“ on October 22 and 23, 2008 in its premises in Mexico City.
FLACSO organises the Workshop in co-operation with the “Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana” (UAM-X) and the Centre for Social Innovation (ZSI).
The Workshop brings together experts in Foresight from both regions – Europe and
International strategies on Foresight Technologies shall be analysed and opportunities evaluated that Latin American countries have to utilize the results of international experiences in Foresight Technologies to stimulate economic growth and social integration according to their special needs.
A further objective of the Workshop is the systematization of information and skills that have been created through existing Foresight programmes and studies and that have been applied to the design and evaluation of public policies in the area of innovation, ICTs and learning.
The workshop demonstrates a further step in the process of deepening existing Foresight networks between the European Union and
The first day of the event will be open to everybody who is interested in the topic. The second day will be restricted to a limited number of people who registered online for the working group.
Major topics of discussion will be “the promotion of investigation and exchange of knowledge in Foresight activities in Europe and Latin America” and “the construction of Foresight capacities and policy planning in
Foresight experts from different countries of both regions are invited and are going to present their experiences and critical contributions to the discussion.
