This draft paper provided by Lorena Rivera and Paolo Dini provides a summary of past outputs and current activities of social science research on Digital Ecosystems within the context of EU-funded research, drawing special attention to the DBE and OPAALS projects. A discussion of the authors understandings and activities with respect to the definition and implementation of policies for sustainable socio-economic development based on digital ecosystems in several different regional contexts is presented.
