Networking Session

One agenda highlight of the EULAKS conference is a networking session on June 9 (16.15 - 17.45) that foresees the presentation of activities and results of selected EU-LAC Co-operation projects. The session will be chaired by the project officer Manuela Alfé (European Commission, DG Research, Socio-Economic Sciences and Humanities) and builds a bridge to very concrete examples of the EU-LAC S&T Co-operation. The networking session shall constitute the setting of an information platform on policy perspectives in the perception of the very multifaceted international co-operation projects that are represented at the conference:

EULARINET:

EULARINET is a FP7 funded networking project aimed at strengthening the dialogue on Science & Technology (S&T) between EU Member States, Associated States and Latin American Partner Countries (LA).

EULARINET is managed by a consortium composed of ministries and agencies from Europe and Latin America. The goals of EULARINET are to jointly define S&T cooperation policies, identify mutual research priorities and support and stimulate the participation of Latin American Partner Countries in FP7.

SINCERE:

The SINCERE project aims at contributing to the consolidation and widening of perspectives, approaches and priorities of the European Research Area in the field of education, training and Lifelong Learning by supporting international networking and cooperation between EU and extra-EU (Latin America and South East Asia) researchers and policy-makers.

SINCERE promotes the idea to "restructure" the existing research domains by taking into account the innovation taking place in education in terms of processes, actors involved, cultural shifts, etc.

WINDS-ICT:

In December 2008, the WINDS Latin America project has completed two years of work, devoted to deepen strategic R&D cooperation between Europe and Latin America. WINDS-LA focused its actions on Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico by building a multinational and multistakeholder community of relevant R&D European and Latin American actors (researchers, policy makers, users) and by identifying common needs, research issues and opportunities for cooperative R&D.

ALFA Kick-Start:

KICKSTART is a cooperation network between Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Europe and Latin America that aims to identify needs and best practices and to formulate strategies and actions for the training of innovation professionals, to equip them to respond to society’s needs by offering effective knowledge exchange solutions, and also to evolve a common space for innovation within the higher education systems of the participating regions.

Kick-Start is already in its second phase. While the first phase was focused on raising awareness, the focus now is to implement complete programmes within the participating HEIs and to train innovation professionals. KICKSTART is financed by the European Commission’s ALFA Programme.
